Gursimran Kaur

Humber College

My name is Gursimran Kaur, and I am an Early Childhood Education student at Humber Polytechnic. I have a strong interest in supporting children’s growth and learning, and it was my early experiences in taking care of my four-year-old cousin that really shaped my passion for this field. I supported him in his daily routines by providing supervision, guidance, and encouragement. I planned simple, play-based learning activities such as reading, arts and crafts, and outdoor exploration to support his creativity, curiosity, and social-emotional development. Additionally, I have more experience through babysitting, whereby I learned how to communicate with families, respond to children's needs, and create a safe, positive environment. The time spent with children has brought me so many memories, having strengthened my understanding of their free spirit, curiosity, and sense of adventure.

These experiences have motivated me to continue growing as a supportive and enthusiastic educator. My goal is to deepen my knowledge of child development, strengthen my teaching strategies, and build strong relationships with children, families, and the community. I create inclusive, warm, and engaging learning environments that allow children to feel confident in exploring and expressing themselves while developing their independence. Continuing on into my ECE journey, I want to be a patient, reflective, and caring educator who makes a difference in every learning space I am part of.
